For Her, From Her began with a simple realisation: sometimes women just need more. More opportunities to be truly seen, heard, supported, celebrated and understood.

Why did you start For Her, From Her?

Being a woman can be a lot!! A whole lot!!

There are the everyday things we’re all juggling, work, friends, home, children… but then life happens too.

Health worries. Family Changes. Grief and Loss. Relationships. Money worries. Feeling down or lonely. Feeling like you’re holding everything together while nobody really notices that you’re struggling? I've felt all those things and they can be scary to navigate on your own.
I have worked and supported vulnerable children and families for over 18 years and I recognise that lots of other women feel some of these things too, that don't always have the so called "village" people talk about and that’s where For Her, From Her can help. We can link you up with someone impartial, someone who gets it, someone who can listen without judgement, someone to remind you that you’re not on your own, someone that can listen and support.

I want to see other women succeed, win, thrive and there are so many amazing women in the world that want that too. That's what really inspired this whole idea, bringing together women, to support each other to be the very best that we can be.

“No judgement. No pressure. Just women supporting women.”

How does it work?

It’s really simple.

A woman can come to us and tell us, in her own words, what’s going on and what kind of support she feels she needs. It could be the confidence to go for a promotion at work, someone to talk through some worries with, It could be anything. We then take the time to read her referral properly and match her with one of our volunteers — someone whose experience, personality and availability feel like a good fit.

From there, it can look different for everyone. It might be a phone call, a video chat, a few messages, or simply having someone there to listen. Support can take place virtually, so it doesn't matter where a woman lives — support is always within reach. There's no one-size-fits-all approach. We meet women where they are and work around what feels comfortable for both the woman and the volunteer.

Sometimes, having someone say “I understand” is the start of things feeling a little lighter, and that's what I want For Her, From Her to achieve. I want us to help.

What would you say to a woman reading this right now?

"You're in the right place! I want this platform to be and feel like a safe space for any woman seeking help, guidance, support, encouragement or mentoring — at any time, for any reason. I want us to work together to lift each other up, to help, support and empower each other."
