A two-way promise
Volunteer Agreement
Volunteering with us is informal, unpaid and freely given — this is not an employment contract. It is simply a clear, shared understanding of how we look after each other.
What you can expect from us
- A thoughtful introduction and matching process, so you are paired with a woman whose needs fit your experience and availability.
- A coordinator you can contact whenever you have a question, a worry or a safeguarding concern.
- Clear guidance on what the befriending role involves and where its boundaries sit.
- Flexibility — you give the time you genuinely have, and you can pause or step back at any point.
- Our gratitude. This community exists because of women like you.
What we ask of you
- That you follow the Volunteer Code of Conduct at all times.
- That you treat everything shared with you as confidential, except where a safeguarding concern must be passed on.
- That you stay within the befriending role and never offer professional advice you are not qualified to give.
- That you tell the coordinator promptly if you are worried about someone, feel out of your depth, or need to pause or end a match.
- That you are honest about your availability and give as much notice as you can if things change.
Ending a match or stepping back
Either side can end a match at any time, for any reason, just by letting the coordinator know. There is no notice period and no hard feelings — we simply ask for honesty so we can make sure the woman you supported is looked after.
